When a specific position has been advertised, applications are carefully reviewed and applicants who best satisfy the selection criteria and possess relevant work experience are short-listed to attend interviews. The interviews are conducted by an interview panel, usually consisting of the Department Manager, the HR Coordinator and another senior member of staff. The interview process is designed to be interactive and provide applicants with the opportunity to learn more about the position and the company in order to assess whether the position is the "right fit" for them. At the same time, the interview panel will consider the applicants' skills and experience for the vacant position based on their responses to a set list of questions. The same questions are asked of each applicant, to ensure fairness and equity in the selection process.
Following the first round of interviews, the interview panel will make recommendation to the General Manager as to the preferred applicants. Reference checks will be made by contacting the two professional referees listed in the applicants' résumé, and those that pass the reference checks will then be invited to attend a second interview with the General Manager. For some positions, further assessment may be required to help identify the most suitable applicant, such as practical tests of skill and knowledge.
Once the General Manager has identified the successful applicant who is the right fit for the position, a verbal offer will be made. Upon acceptance of the verbal offer, a start date will be agreed upon and employment documentation will be prepared, including a letter of offer, position description and other relevant paperwork. At this point, unsuccessful applicants will be notified that the position has been offered to another applicant. Those who have attended interviews are welcome to contact the HR Coordinator for feedback on their application.
